This section of the user guide is focused on embedding the videos, playlists, and the video portal on your webpage. To help you navigate the article we have broken it down into the following sections:
Note: Please be sure the webpage(s) where you want to embed the videos have been 'white-listed' or authenticated for Ocelot video embedding. If you receive an error message while trying to embed the video(s)/playlist(s), please first check to ensure the webpage(s) are authorized.
Embed Video
Embedding a video next to related content is a great way to supplement your existing text so that readers engage more with the information.
- Under Embedding, select Embed Video.
- On the Select Video page of the embedding video wizard. search by the singular term of what you are looking for. You can preview the video by selecting the video thumbnail.
- Once you have picked out a video, select the arrow to the right of the video.
- On the Customize Video page of the embedding video wizard, select the size of the video you want to display. The size you choose will be previewed in the accompanying image so that you know just how big or small the video will be on your site. The responsive size responds to the size of your browser and is best for viewing on mobile devices.
- On the Get Embed Code page of the embedding video wizard, you will be able to copy the embed code to paste into your website designer tool.
- You will be given the option between Javascript and iFrame embed code.
- You also have the option for the video to show up in a pop-up window if you select this option.
- You will be able to preview the video below the embed code.
- HTML Code: You can also insert the video as a linked thumbnail image using HTML code. Using HTML code will display an image that is linked to that video in your video portal. Select the thumbnail size.
- Note: Please be sure the webpage(s) where you want to embed the videos have been 'white-listed' or authenticated for Ocelot video embedding. If you receive an error message while trying to embed the video(s)/playlist(s), please first check to ensure the webpage(s) are authorized.
Embed Playlist
- Under Embedding, select Embed Playlist.
- On the Select Playlist page of the embedding playlist wizard. scroll or search by the singular term of what you are looking for.
- Once you have picked out a playlist, select the arrow to the right of the playlist.
- On the Select Starting Video page, choose the starting video by selecting the arrow to the right of the video. You can also preview the video by selecting the video thumbnail.
- On the Customize Playlist page, select the playlist size. You will be given the option of a pop-up window (AKA a thumbnail) on the next page.
Note: The responsive size is only available for Javascript embed code.
- On the Get Embed Code page of the embedding playlist wizard, you will beable to copy the embed code to paste into your website designer tool.
- You will be given the option between Javascript and iFrame embed code.
- You also have the option for the playlist to show up in a pop-up window if you select this option.
- You will be able to preview the playlist below the embed code.
- HTML Code. You can also insert the playlist’s starting video as a linked thumbnail image using HTML code. Using HTML code will display an image that is linked to that video in your video portal. Select the thumbnail size.
- You will be given the option between Javascript and iFrame embed code.
Embed Portal
You also have the option to embed the entire playlist into your web page so that users don’t need to leave your website environment in order to access your entire video library. It only takes one line of embed code!
- Under Embedding, select Embed Playlist.
- Select the width and height dimensions. If you select the Responsive toggle, only Javascript embed code will be available
Note: Google Sites application does not support Javascript embed code. To embed on the Google Sites application, go to "Insert > Embed > Embed Code and use the iFrame code from Ocelot.
